Sam Dyer interviews Kaitlyn G. Elrod, DMS, PA-C, CAQ-OS, ATC. Kaitlyn is part of the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at the Atrium Health Musculoskeletal Institute in Charlotte, NC. She shares the success of offering a Hospital at Home (HAH) Pathway to orthopedic patients, specifically foot and ankle patients.
HAH programs provide hospital-level services outside the brick-and-mortar hospital setting and have demonstrated effectiveness in medical populations. For patients that are healthy enough, can we reduce the number of nights they spend in a brick-and-mortar hospital? How do HAH outcomes compare to a baseline cohort over a matched historical timeframe?
